Walks and cycle rides
From the Viking Way or the Lincolnshire Trail to a gentle stroll or a cycle hop between two pubs, the area has numerous walks and rides - all along quiet roads, bridleways and footpaths.
Antiques
Horncastle, about ten minutes drive from Alford has about thirty antiques shops in the town centre, ranging from up-market shops to a huge emporium of bric a brac. Hemswell Cliff, about 40 minutes drive away is the site of a centre of about 150 antique dealers with a huge Sunday market adjacent - well worth a visit. Alford itself is now developing a growing number of antique shops.
Historic sites
The whole area is dotted with Roman and pre-Roman remains. Lincoln, about 40 minutes away by car, is a major Roman settlement and historic city and also the main shopping centre for the area.
